Return of the Smile

“Return of the Smile” was originally composed as a poem by Peggy Fay Albano (Ric’s mom). She wrote in early 2021 when, on vacation in South Carolina, she say a stranger smile at her and realized it had been quite a while since seeing an un-masked face in public. Later in 2021, Ric adopted the poem into a song and recorded it with Ron Simasek at Eight Days a Week studio in Northumberland, PA.

Since we enjoyed the pleasure of each other’s smile

Although our eyes are the windows of our soul
We need to see the smiles just to let us know
Life isn’t so hard if we show that we care

The road’s been rough this past year or so
We’ve missed our loved ones, we’ve seen some go
On to claim their eternal reward
An audience in the presence of the Lord

It’s in truth that we’ll find peace
Although missing them will never, ever cease
But we must continue to be ever kind

We’ll go the extra mile, if only just to give a simple smile
Keeping the straight and narrow in mind
