Lyrics
At Christmas time we exchange the gifts that we bought
But I’d prefer if you just made me something
Reflecting those talents you’ve got
For I believe in spirits older than the Earth
And cherish a peaceful contemplation
On the meaning of the virgin birth
Intangible things at the heart and the core of it all
Invisible charms grace the soul beyond items massive or small
Recite a simple poem or forge your craft
Or distill a moment which brings the joy
Of a sweet and genuine laugh
Any of this is a preferable function
To a hastily bought token just to meet modern convention
It’s presence, not presents which carries importance to me
Memories derived from a fellowship offered for free
Santa is for the children but someday we must grow up
Or we’ll forget the true meaning of a season gone corrupt
Don’t let it go, no, no, no
(Don’t let it get corrupt)
Can’t let it go, no, no, no
(We must all grow up)
Want presence not presents
(Experience not stuff)
Presence not presents
(Christmas with you will be just enough)
