Lights of December

On a cold December Friday
When breath a sheer fog, a store of fresh logs
We’re rushing to complete as the sun is falling deep –
Into the shrunken white horizon
It gets so dark so early this time of the year
But our mission is clear, and I’m happy that I’m here, this I know

I approach familiar landmarks
Through this city of my youth and unambiguous truths
It doesn’t much change, only slight rearrange –
In the style of decorations, a new flourish on the old edifice
Still the magic remains and the spirit sustains, yes I know

It is good to be back in a northern town
Where the winter arrives on time
Adornments of lights warm the frigid streets
Where joy and faith still shines

I can speak now without sinning
From a stage so cold ‘neath the coat, layered clothes
Into a silent sea there arises symphonies –
An enchanting luminescence
In the otherwise lifeless hours of the night
An orchestra of light, a visual delight for the Soul

So good to be back up here again, where complexity unwinds
The spirit of the night warms my frigid feet as faith and joy is mine

On a plane beyond the realm of…
The physical sphere, the star again appears
No longer small, it shines brightest of all on this night
It shines so bright
