The sixth track on the album Imaginary Cube, this song was previously released under the same title on Imaginary Lines 33 in 2009 with new lyrics and vocals added in 2018. “She Said” is a lyrical riddle built on juxtaposed lyrics from classic rock songs – in total nine different songs from nine different artists. In this sense, the song has a non-linear story, although Ric Albano did provide completely original words for the bridge.
Aside from the bridge section, the music to the song does not reside in any particular key, but instead is built on a complex descending pattern (2 steps down, 1 step up) while simultaneously alternating among major, minor, seventh and major seventh chords. Accompanying Albano is Ron Simasek with a brushed drum shuffle, Erik Trabert on lead guitar and Janet Rains on backing vocals.

Lyrics
She says “Fools and sages live and learn”
She said “A movement’s 6 stages while the 7th brings return”
She said “The deeper you go, the higher you fly”
It’s all in the way that she says it
The subtle semantics may be revealed in the summertime
She said “Behind the beauty cracks appear”
She said “The future’s uncertain and the end is always near”
She said “Waterfalls of pity roar”
It’s all in the phrasing she uses
The simpleton gets confused by her tones
By her freshly-tossed bones,
She’ll at once seems perfectly content
As she concocts a new argument about war
Man, she really hates war
But she’s never had to fight for anything
No she’s never had to fight
Never has a want for anything
Never had an unconsummated delight
She said “Think as it was and then again it will be”
She said “Go sing your heart out to the infinite sea”
She said “I may make you feel but I can’t make you think”
It’s all in the way that you convey it
Was the promise of her may ever real in the summertime?
